What We Collect

When you use WriteLikeMe, we collect the information you voluntarily provide during the codex creation process:

• Writing samples (pasted text, uploaded files, or URLs you submit)
• Your answers to the voice questionnaire
• Your first and last name (used in the generated codex)
• Your email address, if you choose to provide it

How Your Data Is Processed

Your writing samples and questionnaire answers are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for voice analysis and codex generation. This processing happens in real time — your data is sent to the API, a response is generated, and the result is streamed back to your browser.

We do not store your writing samples or questionnaire answers on our servers. Once the API call completes, the data exists only in your browser session. If you close or refresh the page, it is gone.

Your Generated Codex

The voice codex generated for you exists only in your browser. It is saved to your browser's local storage so you can return to it, but it is never transmitted to or stored on our servers. You are responsible for saving your codex (via copy, print, or PDF) if you want to keep it.

Third-Party Services

• Anthropic Claude API — processes your writing samples and answers to generate voice analysis and the codex. Subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.
• HubSpot — if you provide your email address, it is submitted to HubSpot for email list management. Subject to HubSpot's privacy policy.
• Resend — used for transactional email delivery (e.g., sending your codex to your email). Subject to Resend's privacy policy.
• Vercel Analytics — anonymous usage analytics with no personally identifiable information collected.
• Google Analytics — standard web analytics, if enabled. Subject to Google's privacy policy.

Cookies

WriteLikeMe uses minimal cookies. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising. Cookies that may be present include:

• HubSpot tracking cookie (for form submission integrity)
• Google Analytics cookies (if enabled)

Data Retention

Writing samples and questionnaire answers are not stored on our servers. They exist only for the duration of the API call and your browser session. Email addresses provided to HubSpot are retained according to HubSpot's data retention policies until you request removal.

GDPR & Your Rights (EU Residents)

If you are a resident of the European Union, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
• Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data
• Right to restrict processing — request limitation on how we use your data
• Right to data portability — receive your data in a portable format
• Right to object — object to processing of your personal data

Because we do not store writing samples or questionnaire answers server-side, most of your data is already outside our retention. For email-related requests (removal from mailing lists, data access), contact us at the address below.
